I am 18 years old and in Matric at SAHETI. I’m currently situated in Johannesburg but my Greek roots stem from Paliro Faliro in Athens.
I entered Miss Hellene for a number of reasons: the lifelong friendships, the exposure to meet new people in our Greek community, as well as the potential networking. However, the main reason that is most prominent is the charity aspect of Miss Hellene. I try my hardest to help those in need. I do this through my art by creating awareness of the poverty that South Africa faces daily. And so, Miss Hellene’s drive to further a person’s education and change someone’s life forever is the motivation as to why I entered.
My passion in life is art. I try to build relationships with poverty-stricken individuals who I meet daily and once I have made a connection, I paint them. I’m trying to remind society, through my art, that the homeless are human beings and we should spend time getting to know them and try to help them in any way we can.
I am a feminist and I hope to leave a legacy of empowerment and independence for future generations. Miss Hellene has inspired me to live to my full potential as a strong, independent, Greek woman.
