Jo’burg Youth Ball 2016

So we all know what a struggle it is for a girl to look good every time they go out. We have to do our hair and make-up. Find a pretty dress (which you haven’t worn before) and shoes to match. Guys on the other hand take a shower and put on the same smart pants they wear to every event.

This year I really struggled to find a dress! And when I did it had a huge hole in it and there was no other available one in Pretoria so my friend Litsa picked up the dress for me from the branch in Johannesburg. My plan was to drive to joburg with everything ready. My hair, makeup, accessories and shoes and then just skip my dress on when I get there.

Wishful thinking! I drove all the way to Joburg and when I arrived at Pantanasa where the ball was hosted, I realized I left my shoes at home! There was no way I could wear this dress without heels and no other girl had feet as small as mine for me to borrow shoes. So believe it or not… I drove all the way back to Pretoria to fetch my shoes and then back to Joburg to carry on partying and it was so worth it! (Because they’re my favourite pair of shoes that I actually won as miss Hellene)

But other than my wardrobe crisis, Joburg youthball was a successful one as always! There was definitely a younger crowd this year which was nice to see because it means new faces are getting involved in NAHYSOSA! The food was great, we danced, broke plates and spent the night with great friends and the hall looked absolutely stunning!

Congrats to the three committees, SHA, UJHA and CYA on such a successful event! I look forward to the next one!
