I’m 21 years old. My Hellenic roots are from my grandparents who came from Thessaloniki and I stay in Johannesburg and Pretoria.
I am currently studying a BPolSc (Political science and International relations being my core modules) at the University of Pretoria. I want to be a diplomat as my end goal.
I entered Miss Hellene for three reasons: firstly, I believe in the cause that we are supporting by raising funds for the NAHYSOSA Bursary and Medical fund, as anything can happen and any family can be affected. It is phenomenal to know that you are making a difference in someone’s life and contributing to their education.
Secondly, being a part of the Pretoria affiliate of NAHYSOSA this year ,I wanted to explore another realm of my Greek heritage especially one that gives me an opportunity to meet more like-minded Greek girls.
Thirdly, I realised that the lessons we would learn from this experience would be ones that could possibly help us later in life, such as making contacts, raising funds and being a representative of a larger organization.
My random fact is that I used to have a British accent when i was 9 years old. My family immigrated to the UK for a couple of months and I picked one up easily because I was so young.
